Mom’s Quit Connection (MQC) is starting a new Pediatric Campaign, MQC for Families with a focus on decreasing secondhand smoke exposure to young children. In New Jersey, 400,000 children are exposed to secondhand smoke at home, contributing to the 40% of children living with smokers who visit the ER for asthma every year. This Campaign will assist Pediatric Clinicians to address these grim statistics with the smoking families of their patients. NCHC has been chosen as a Pilot site prior to the state-wide campaign. MQC for Families will supply NCHC with the Smoke Free Family Bag; a free, reusable, small bag of information for the smoking family and/or household members of your patients. The materials educate about the hazards of second and third hand smoke, childhood asthma and free cessation services available in NJ.
